Our Story

Built for a script
that survived 2,500 years

amghnas is a free digital home for Tifinagh — the ancient writing system of the Amazigh people, spoken across Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and beyond.

Why amghnas exists

The word amghnas (ⴰⵎⵖⵏⴰⵙ) means "the struggler" or "the activist" in Tamazight — in Arabic, المناضل — the one who fights for a cause. Here, that cause is the Amazigh identity: its language, its script, its culture, and its place in the modern world.

Tifinagh is one of humanity's oldest continuously used writing systems. Yet until recently, typing it online was nearly impossible without special software. amghnas was built to change that — making Tifinagh accessible to anyone, anywhere, on any device, for free.

Whether you're a student learning the script for the first time, a researcher studying Amazigh linguistics, or someone who simply wants to write their name in Tifinagh — this tool is for you.
